  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit until bubbly.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix well and gradually incorporate remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth, then place it in a greased bowl to rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and shape into bones with slits on each side.
  5. Place shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet to rise again for about 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) during the last few minutes of rising time.
  7. Bake for 12–14 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle garlic salt and parmesan cheese on top, and serve warm with marinara sauce.
