  • 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, whole milk, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and ground nutmeg. Heat until warm but not boiling.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the baking dish and pour half of the cream mixture over them.
  4. Sprinkle half of both cheeses over the potato layer.
  5. Repeat with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  6. Dot the top with butter and cover with foil. Bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
