  • 12 tablespoons very cold unsalted butter
  • ½ cup very cold heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon chai spice blend
  • pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 heaping cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons chai spice blend
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, pulse together flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spice blend, and salt.
  3. Add cold butter and pulse until small pieces form.
  4. Mix in chilled cream and egg mixture until dough forms.
  5. Chill dough for 30 minutes, then roll out to about an inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
  6. Brush scones with reserved egg wash before baking for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
  7. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, chai spice blend, vanilla extract, heavy cream, maple syrup, and salt until smooth.
  8. Dip cooled scones into glaze and allow to set before serving.
